Purposeβ
This SOP provides standardized procedures for installing, hardening, and maintaining the Air Force Standard Desktop Configuration (AFSDC) on mission systems designated for Operational Technology (OT) use. Its purpose is to:
-
Establish a trusted baseline by installing an approved SDC image that meets USAF cybersecurity and operational compliance requirements.
-
Ensure system integrity and security through mandatory Group Policy modifications, startup app control, driver/software validation, and removal of unauthorized services such as wireless connectivity.
-
Support OT mission operations by enabling the installation of required vendor tools (e.g., SEL AcSELerator, PowerLogic ION, EasyPower) on a secure and standardized platform.
-
Protect USAF networks and mission data by enforcing strict βno internetβ use on SDC machines, controlling removable media, and ensuring compliance with encryption and classification requirements.
